Adam Mitts, Sr. fought in The Dunmore's War of 1774. (VIRGINIA'S COLONIAL SOLDIERS, by Lloyd DeWitt Bocstruck Pub., 1988, on Page 138-139, "The names of the soldiers on the pay rolls at ROMNEY AND WINCHESTER . List of men under Stephen Ashby's company of Rangers: ADAM MITTS) He was in this war along with his father-in-law, Harmonius Alkire. He moved, along with his family, to the vicinity of Curry Run, Harrison Co., Ky in the 1790's from Hampshire Co., Virginia. Event: Estate Administration Record 1 Event: Estate Inventory 1 Note: October 27, 1808 This day agreeable to an order from the worshipfull Court of Bourbon County we proceeded to Settle up the amount of the Estate of Adam Mitts, Decd. with Wm Alkire Executor to said Estate. And we find from the Settlement, that the amount of 2 thirds of the Estate LS[?] Amounts to - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -215188 And Interest on the same to - - - - - - - - - - - - - -8398 29976 And likewise we find that Wm Alkire has paid up to John Alkire, Guardian for Adam Mitts children to the amount o f - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - 184 [?] [?] Ballence due from Wm Alkire, Executor to Adam Mitts decd Estate Amount to - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 115 7 6 Being first sworn agreeable to an order of Court, we proceeded to Settle with the Executor of Adam Mitts, decd. This given under our hands this 27 day of October 1808.
