Abraham Jewett. He was about 54 years of age July 2, 1691. He was a tanner and married in Rowley, Mass., Feb. 2, 1661, Ann Allen, daughter of Bozoan and Ann Allen. "Abraham Jewitt and Ann Alin married the second day of the second moneth 1661" (Rowley Record). She was then living in Rowley with her mother, who had married Joseph Jewett. Abraham Jewett and John Jewett first appear in the Rowley records the same month and day when each take a wife, and from many acts and business dealings seem in some way connected with Maximilian and Joseph Jewett, although there is no record of relationship. There is an old family legend, handed down from generation to generation, that Maximilian and Joseph Jewett were accompanied to America by a nephew or nephews, and it may be, and in fact, is possible, that Abraham and John Jewett were the sons of William Jewett, the eldest son of Edward Jewett. There was without doubt some relationship between them. Abraham Jewett resided in Rowley and his home was the estate sold April 8, 1737, by his grandchild, Anne Swett, to David Dresser. … The inventory of his estate was taken April 30, 1694, by Ezekiel Jewett, Joseph Jewett, and Nehemiah Jewett. His widow, Ann, was the administratrix. She died Feb. 9, 1721. "Died Ann Jewet, Abraham Jewet's widow Feb. 9, 1721" (Rowley Records).
