"Abigail Penniman, b. Braintree, 27 Dec. 1651, d. Bristol, Mass. (now R.I), 25 June 1729, aged 79 y; m. John Cary. Abigail was surnamed 'Carie' in the will of her mother, and she is apparently the Abigail Cary of Bristol whose will, dated 7 May 1722 and proved 12 Feb. 1729/30, mentions 'My husband Deacon John Cary deceased.' … The mar. of John Cary Jr. and _____ on 7 Dec. 1670 is recorded in Bridgewater. A duplicate entry in the pub. VRs from a private source made many years later calls the wife Abigail Allen. The above provides sufficient evidence that she was actually Abigail Penniman."
