Identity and Parentage

Wardlow in Samuel Peirce of Zoar states that Abigail was the daughter of Gershom³ (Gershom², Thomas¹) and Hannah (__). He notes that "(t)here were six married women named Abigail Peirce recorded in Woburn 1700-1780, but of these six, only Samuel Peirce's wife Abigail is unidentified in vital records."^S1 In support of her identification as the daughter of Gershom³, Wardlow cites the will of Gershom³ Flegg of Woburn, where he gives five shillings to "my Daughter Abigail Pearce;" a deed of Abigail and Samuel⁵ Peirce was witnessed by Gershom Flegg Junr; this couple named a son Gershom (Peirce), and their son Samuel⁶ named a daughter, Abigail Flag Peirce.

Charlemont, Mass bef. 13 Apr 1794 (executor's bond given by son Josiah) age 83 (obit. in Coloumbian Centinel 23 Apr 1794), so b. abt. 1711. Will of "Abigail Peirce of the Town of Charlemont" dated 10 Jan 1792, proved 6 May 1794.
