!IMMIGRATION: Post card purchased at the Musée Acadien in Pubnico in Aug 2004. In 1755 Abel DUON and a band of 50 refugees fled the expulsion at Grand-Pré and made their way through the forest to Pubnico. Shortly after their arrival, they and most of the rest of the Pubnico residents were deported to Massachusetts. He married at Marblehead, MA that same year. With seven other families Abel returned to reclaim Pubnico in 1767, in a ship they had constructed while in exile. Many of his descendants still live in Pubnico today. He is the progenitor of the name D'EON in the area.

Abel Duon, the ancestor of the d'Eons of Pubnico, who had married in exile Anne d'Entremont, sister to Joseph, Paul and Benoni, went first towards Amirault's Hill, settling definitely in West Pubnico on 1769 with three children.

  5.   FATHER CLARENCE-J. D'ENTREMONT. Log Cabins of West Pubnico. (100 ARTICLES WRITTEN BY FATHER CLARENCE-J. D'ENTREMONT).

Abel Duon, the ancestor of the d'Eons of Pubnico, who had married a sister of Joseph, Paul and Benoni, came back from exile with them and settled first in Amirault's Hill. But early in 1769, he came to West Pubnico to be near his wife's family. It is then that he built his own log cabin, abut 200 meters north of Joseph d'Entremont's. It became the property of his son Paul, who got married in 1800, in which, it seems, all his children were born. It is not known when it was demolished. Paul bequeathed the property to his son Gabriel. Gabriel then built a house just a short distance north of the site of the log cabin, although he got married in 1859 only.
