He was the son of Samuel and Susan Ricker of Maine.

His 1st wife was Sarah H. Packard, who he married on Sep 1, 1851 in Lowell, Mass. They had three children: Edgar Ricker, Hattie Ricker (Durant) and Albert D. Ricker.

They were living in Lowell Massachusetts when he enlisted in Company C, Massachusetts 30th Infantry Regiment on 30 Nov 1861 during the Civil War. Mustered out on 05 Jul 1866 at Charleston, SC.

On the 1870 census, he was listed as a grocer in Sumter, SC, but his wife and children weren't listed with him. They must have stayed in Mass.

Apparently his wife Sarah died between 1860-1871 because he and Annie Laura George married on Dec 6, 1871 in Lowell, Mass. They were living in Sumter when the 1880 census was taken, and he was listed as a grocer. The three children from his first marriage were living with them.

Aaron and Annie's children were George Lawrence Ricker and Fred Ricker.
