Neighbors and General Purpose

STATE OF Indiana, COUNTY OF Shelby SS:
In the matter of the application of Louisiana Varner Widow of Jacob Varner decd, ON THIS 12" day of March A.D. 1883 personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid county, duly authorized to administer oaths.
Henry M. Endsley aged 60 years, a resident of Shelby Co. Indiana
Absalom Arnold aged 52 years, a resident of Shelby Co. Indiana
well known to me to be a reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case as follows:
We were both well acquainted with Jacob Varner at the time of his enlistment and from our own personal knowledge are able to state that at that time he was a stout able bodied man, and had been so for more than ten years but are unable to state his condition at the time of his discharge, or state? disease of which he died, and further? saith? not

We further declare that we have no interest in said case, and are not concerned in its prosecution.
