Cordelia (Myers) Smith, Scrapbook. |
The scrapbook kept by Cordelia (Myers) Smith, running about 100 pages, contains mostly newspaper clippings published from about 1910 to about 1928, with some older items added in. (She kept other scrapbooks before and after this period, but this is the only one known to have survived.) Almost none of the clippings are dated or attributed, but most would be from the Oskaloosa Herald (founded 1850), with a few from surrounding towns. A few have identifying notes penciled in the margins, probably added later. In addition to items of family interest, she included wedding and death announcements, and other items, about friends, members of her church, classmates at Penn Academy, etc., as well as poetry and jokes.
