This indenture made the 8th day of October in the year 1830 between Samuel G. Matkin of Harrison Cojunty and State of Kentucky of the one part; and Robert Madison of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Saml. G. Matkin for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell release convey and confirm unto the said Robert Madison and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in Harrison County an[d] state of Kentucky on the waters of Mill Creek and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a boxalder corner to Mrs. E. Matkin's dower & Theo. Matkin's and sd. Madison thence South 34 E. 79 poles to a boxalder on the bank of the sd. creek thence up the creek S. 28 1/2 W. 24 poles then N. 83 W. 16 1/2 poles thence south 82 W. 6 po. to an oak and boxalder on the bank of sd. creek division corner between sd. Saml. G. and Theodore Matkins -- thence N. 7 W. 86 poles with the division line to the Beginning containing eleven acres and a quarter. To have and to hold the above described premises & every part and parcel thereof and the appurtenances without incumbrance let or molestation to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Robert Madison and his heirs and assigns forever and the said Saml. G. Matkin for himself & his heirs executors & administrators doth covenant that he is lawfully possessed of an indefensible estate of inheritance in fee simple in and to the above described premises and hath just right and full authority to bargain sell and convey the said as aforesaid. And he doth warrant and forever defend said premises and the appurtenances unto the sd. Robert Madison and his heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of him the sd. Saml. G. Matkin and all others whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Samuel G. Matkin hath hereunto set his hand & seal the year and day first above written.
