Origins

The earliest Marquez name in our family line comes from the 1910 U.S. Census, where Epimenio Marquez is shown as a 40-year-old living with his wife and child (Octavio Marquez Sr, then 7 years old) in Brownsville, Texas.

On our visit to Mexico in December 2007, an official at the vital records department in Monterrey, Mexcio, who seemed very familiar with family origins of certain names, thought with certainty that the name originated in the Mexican state of Michoacán.
