A Mystery

I wonder about what the story is behind John W. Trout, son of Balthazar. Why is there no reference of the Hester Pursel, the mother of his children in his Will? Why did she have to raise the children alone? Did she remarry? A clue lies with Gates who was suposedly a son of John W. His greatgrand daughter, my great aunt shares in her book that Gates' father was:

  1. a school teacher and
  2. died in 1841.

So was John W really his father? I find it impossible in my heart to imagine abandoning my children. Some problems arise specifically: John W. died well after 1841 and he wasnt a teacher. Did John W., take in the family after the untimely death of his brother Jacob? We know little about his brother Jacob, only that he died before 1853. I have the greatest reverence for Hester and can imagine the hardship that must of faced her raising her children without a husband. And Horatio "Gates" Trout, her oldest son, what role did he play in raising his brothers and sisters... He built the Temple of Fashion and became a successful Tailor and businessman. I hope to find these answers in the years to come. (H0riz0n, Great....great Grandson of Horatio "Gates" Trout.)

Well there now seems to be another John TROUT, ABT 1802-1841 Northumberland County, PA Son (we think) of the Abraham Trout Sr. (John Trout Sr. brother)
