Bounty from Mother Corn. In a modern depiction of an ancient legend, corn sprouts from the body of Selu, who had been slain by her two club-wielding sons. Curious as to where their mother got her corn, the boys spied on her and found that the kernels came from her body. At Selu's bidding, the boys killer ker and used her remains to consecrate the first cornfield. Today the Cherokee revere her as Mother Corn.
