Distribution of Cowan/Cowen/Cowin surnames as HOH in the US in the 1810 census. Based on data extractions from the Ancestry US Census data base. Note that this extraction picks up the occassional individual where subscribers have disagreed with the reading of Ancestries transcribers, and have included a note to that effect in the Ancestry database. For example, "Cown" might be corrected to "Cowan". Overall, this probably improves the correctness of the transcription, but may introduce an occassional error.
