Image Information
James Taber, confectioner is listed with his son, Wesley on the June 11,1900 Census at 2316 Arthur Avenue. This is a 12 foot wide wood frame building with a shop on the ground floor and living quarters on the second floor. It is still in existence today. The address is at the end of Arthur Avenue abutting a change in terrain. The corner is very pleasant, open, sunny and breezy. In 1900 this section of the Bronx was like a small village and the series of buildings the Tabers inhabited probably housed the main shopping center.
