The rock is one of three solstice rocks with natural markings found only in Tipton County in Indiana. In its original setting at the east end of the 1/2 mile lane, the pointed high end pointed to the south (possibly a few degrees east of south). The southerly heading I confirmed with a 1988 video that I shot. In this picture, after being moved to he west end of 1/2 mile lane (when that land was sold for development), next to the Naylor school, it is pointing east. The east/west 1/2 mile lane divide Section 11, Liberty Twp., Tipton Co., Indiana in half. The land on both sides of the lane was Hawkins land. The children of Jonas Hawkins attended this Naylor School. Picture by Phillip A. Hawkins 29 April 1996. There is a natural seat in this rock where dad (Harold) said that you could sit and crack walnuts. He showed me where his dad (Harry) had carved his HT in the rock.
