Summary

There were at least two Houston who settled in Old in Old Washington County prior to the Revolution:

Person:William Huston (4) settled on Catfish Creek in what is now the town of Washington, on the border of South Strabrane and North Franklin townships.
Person:James Huston (4) settled near by, and is known to have come to the area from Cumberland County.

Given their proximity to each other, James and William are presumed to be kin. After the Revoluion land records show several Houston's in the area. Their relationships with James and William are unknown.

After the Revolution a Person:Phillip Huston (1) appears in the area:

From Dion Huston on the Houston-L List, April 8, 2011

"Phillip HUSTON (variants possible), ...was born in, or at least lived at an early age in Kent County, Maryland in the 1760's. He joined the Maryland Regiment as a drummer in 1780, for which he later received some bounty land in Illinois. Following the Revolutionary War he went to Baltimore to become a taylor and relocated to Taylorstown (no pun intended), Buffalo Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. From there, he returned to the Army and fought in the war of 1812 and returned to Washington County, Pennsylvania where he died in 1829.
