its a reasonable assumption that David, William, Samuel, and Andrew Cowan were brothers, based on their near simultaneous appearance in Castles Woods area, and other family associations, such as that with the family of John Walker III of the Wigton line. However, where they came from, much less who there parents were, has not been proven. There are genealogists who will say that they came to Castle's Woods from Beverley's Manor, but as far as I can tell, there's no real evidence for that. Might be true, but might be not. In anycase, I've trimmed this article of links to persons who I don't believe can be established. I've left sister Margaret because there's good reason to believe that she is the wife of David Gass of Castle's Wood. David Gass, is at anyrate, a known brothrinlaw of DWS&A Cowan, and is also believed to have married a "Margaret", last name unknow. Reason to guess that she was Margaret Cowan., but direct evidence for this is not available to my knowledge. Q 19:44, 4 February 2010 (EST)
