  2. Source:Morgan, Nathaniel H. Harris Genealogy : A History of James Harris of New London, Conn., and His Descendants from 1640 to 1878, p. 19, claims Elizabeth d/o James Harris, m. William Rogers in 1713. This is almost certainly wrong. NEHGR, Vol. 154, p. 16, flatly states Elizabeth "was not, as Morgan wrote, the Elizabeth who m. in New London, 27 Aug 1713, William Roberts", claiming probate files show this Elizabeth to be daughter of Peter Harris (b. 1693, see New London records 1:22, though it appears his will appears to only name daughter as Elizabeth, no surname specified C:295). Note that William Rogers would have been 15 years younger than the daughter of James, incredibly unlikely.

Compare to Source:Rogers, James Swift. James Rogers of New London, Ct. and His Descendants, p. 71, which says: James Rogers [#27] b. 2 Feb 1675 m. (1) Elizabeth ---, who died 28 Feb 1713 aged 32 according to gravestone, said by Rev. C.M. Sellect and Judge H. A. Baker to be Elizabeth Harris. This age at death aligns pretty well with James daughter's suspected birth date.
