Cairns TINNEN and Sarah CLARK of NC and KY Posted by: Alex S. Thompson (ID *****3464) Date: March 26, 2006 at 08:48:44 In Reply to: Re: John TINNON and Jane DAVIDSON of TN by Grace Bagwell of 153

"Tinnen Treks" has a summary (pp. 88 and 89) on Cairns TINNEN and family, including his 18 Aug 1828 Logan Co. KY will, and data on 8 of their 9 children. If you contact me by email, I can mail you copies of applicable pages, and more complete data on the family from "The Clark Family of Orange County, North Carolina," compiled 1986 by Clara Hunt Miller. Clara's work includes Bible dates for births of Cairns and his wife Sarah CLARK (17 Oct 1762 and 28 Dec 1763 in Orange Co. NC) and all nine of their children, plus data on later generations.

Cairns (whose name was spelled in a variety of ways) was the son of Robert TINNIN from Lancaster Co. PA and Catherine Ann THOMSON. Cairns' wife Sarah was a daughter of Revolutionary War Capt. Thomas CLARK. Capt. Thomas' Orange Co. NC will was dated 23 Nov 1780 and proved Aug 1781. His wife was Susannah CLARK, daughter of William CLARK and Mary ALLISON. Thomas and Susannah were probably cousins, but Thomas' father hasn't been identified.
