William (Beardsley, Stratford, a mason, came 1635, in the Planter from London, aged 30, with w. Mary, 26, and ch. Mary 4; John, 2; and Joseph, 6 mos. He was freem. in Mass. 7 Dec. 1636, but dwell, in wh. town is unkn. was one of the orig. proprs. of S. 1640, and there had Daniel, b. 1644; beside Samuel wh. d. 1706; prob. Sarah, wh. m. 1668, Obadiah Dickinson of Hatfield, and one or more other ds. was rep. 1645, and often after, and d. 1661. His will of 28 Sept. 1660, names w. and four s., Daniel, John, Joseph, and Samuel; gives to ds. m. £10 ea. and a large sum to be distrib. by the w. to other ch. prob. younger, and unm. of wh. were certain. William, and Thomas. Of the grs. at Yale, in 1828, were seven Beardsleys.
