Family:Thomas Kimberly and Mary Seabrook (1)

BirthDeath

Thomas Kimberly's second wife was named Mary (____) Preston, widow of William Preston who died in 1647. Mary was still a widow in April, 1660, "when she asked to be released from her office of sweeping the Meeting-House, doubtless because of her approaching marriage." By August, 1661, Thomas Kimberly is mentioned as having a wife. S1

In History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield, Vol. 1, written 1930-1932, Jacobus suggests that the second wife of William Preston may be Mary Seabrook, daughter of Robert Seabrook. This is based upon a Stratford deed where Robert Seabrook gifted property to his grandchildren. S2 However, in the 1950 Genealogy of the Kimberly Family, Jacobus writes: "It has been stated in many accounts that William Preston's second wife Mary was a daughter of Robert Seabrook, but the compiler doubts that this was so and believes that identification to have been based on a misinterpretation of a deed in Stratford."
