Family:Samuel Comstock and Elizabeth Arnold (1)

This text, from family notes, is probably copied from John Adams Comstock's 194 book A History and Genealogy of the Comstock Family:

At age 24, Samuel Comstock married Elizabeth Arnold on Nov 22, 1678. She was 32 years of age, and she was born in Watertown MA in 1645, and died in Smithfield RI on Oct 20, 1747 at age 102. She was the daughter of Thomas Arnold of Cheselbourne, Dorset, England, and Phoebe (Parkhurst) Arnold.

Captain Richard Arnold, Samuel Comstock, and other obtained on April 14, 1707 a grant of land at Woonsocket Hill RI. Samuel Comstock and Richard Arnold (whose sister, Elizabeth, he married) were the first settlers at Woonsocket.

Samuel resided at Providence, but in 1781 a part was set off as Smithfield. Samuel Comstock's will of Dec 21, 1726 was proved on Sept 18, 1727, executrix, wife Elizabeth, valued at 295 pounds, 6 shillings, 1 pence.

The will of widow Elizabeth Comstock of Smithfield of Apr 10, 1745, proved Dec 8, 1747, gives to sons Thomas, Ichabod, John, Job, and Hazadiah, to daughter Elizabeth Sayles, to grandson David Comstock, to granddaughter Sarah Aldrich, to great granddaughter Anne Steer, valued at 415 pounds, 13 shillings, 8 pence.

Children born in Providence: Samuel, Hazadiah, Thomas, Daniel, Elizabeth, John, Ichabod, and Job.
