The day and yeare of the birth of the children of Samuel Allen senior heare in the towne of bridgwater … Imprimis his second borne whos name is samuel who was borne the : 4th : of December : 1660

  4. Anderson (TGM) cites the Bridgewater vital records [MD 2:91] but does not take into account that the child born 1660 was stated to be "his second borne." It is possible that the first was born at Duxbury at the home of the wife's family as was sometimes the custom. At any rate, the first child does not seem to appear later so very possibly died young.
  5. Not supported by Middletown Vital Records and unlikely for a couple who had ten of their eleven children recorded at Bridgewater.
