Family History

Richard Townsend and Joane Markes were married on 14 November 1642 in the parish of Bucklebury, Berkshire, England.[2]

The children of Richard and Joan were unable to provide support for the couple in their old age, and the Quakers had taken over from the Anglican parishes the function of caring for the poor of their own meetings. The widow of their son William also received support from the Quakers in the 1690s.[1][3]
