Source:May, Samuel Pearce. Descendants of Richard Sares (Sears) of Yarmouth, Mass., 1628-1888, p. 32, names Richard Sears wife as Dorothy ---. It says, "It is not certain that she was his only wife, or the mother of all, if any, of his children". On p. 12-17, "No record of his marriage is now to be found, and no Dorothy is known to the Thacher genealogists". The claim that he married Dorothy Thacher at Plymouth in 1632 has not been confirmed by any documentary evidence. The author was unable to locate anybody who has seen the bible that supposedly gives this date, mentioned in the book Source:Swift, Charles Francis. History of Old Yarmouth : Comprising the Present Towns of Yarmouth and Dennis. Richard Sears called Anthony Thacher "bro. Thacher" in his will. The will of two of Anthony's brothers in England mention Anthony but no sister Dorothy. Other explanations justifying this relationship could exist, in particular, that Richard's wife was a sister to either of Anthony's wives: Mary ---, or Elizabeth Jones, plus others.

The death record "Goody Sares was buried Mar. 19, 1678-9" would apply to whichever Dorothy was his wife.
