They lived in Strokestown, (Roscommon) Ireland. Susan and a John McLuen, who supposedly is Richard's father are buried in the cemetery in Strokestown. The farm that Richard & Susan lived on was owned by John McLuen. Susan died and Richard (the father) couldn't take care of all the children so they came to the USA. John and his three sisters came together. William had come earlier. A paid researcher from Ireland, Strokestown, sent the following information: "My final search on the family was for death records of the family, I located two burial records in the Bumlin Church of Ireland Parish Records; they were for a John McLuen and Susan McLuen. I feel that John was Richard's father as the land in the Tithe Applotment Books was in the name of John McLuen. The actual year John died in was not legible, but it was some time in the 1830's. Susan McLuen was only 35 {according to the records} when she died so she wss only 14 when her first child was born. The details of the burial records were: John McLuen, Strokestown, Bumlin Church of Ireland Parish Records, 23 March 183?, age 87 and Susan McGluen, Lisroyne, Strokestown, Bumlin Church of Ireland Parish Records, 10 February 1855, age 35." |
