Birth, Marriage and Death Register, Church Records and Epitaphs of Lancaster, Massachusetts, 1643-1850 p. 452, based on "sundry sources supposed reliable" is probably wrong. It appears to be repeated in another of the compiler's Lancaster books as fact (on p. 267 in Source:Nourse, Henry Stedman. Early Records of Lancaster, Massachusetts, 1643-1725, p. 267, with a specific date given: 17 Nov 1707). An article in TAG, p. 48:89, presents considerable evidence that John Bowers' wife was actually Elizabeth Wilder, d/o of Nathaniel Wilder and Elizabeth Stevens, b. 1681. Other errors identifying the parentage of John Bowers are also covered.
