  1. This marriage is assumed based on an early source that identifies Gerard, Count of Auvergne and Rather, Count of Limoges as sons-in-law of Pepin (see MATHILDE, in Medieval Lands). The wife of Gerard (at least) would likely have been born before 827, since her grandson Gerard/Gerald was born in 855, and therefore, she is likely older than her (half-)brothers, who are assumed to have been born early in Pepin's known marriage to the daughter of Theodebert.
