1870 Census

Morris Forran, 49, is a laborer living in Millbridge, Washington, Maine. He was born in Ireland, and has not been naturalized. His real estate is valued at $200. His family includes: Mary E, 39, born in Maine, who keeps house, and their children: Margaret, 17; Mary E, 15; Isabella, 14; Almedia (sp?), 12; John, 10; Charles L, 9; James, 7; Levi, 4; and Belinda 1. All but the two youngest are attending school.

1880 Census

Mary E Foren, 48, is the head of household in Millbridge, Washington, Maine (District 193). She is a widow, born in Maine (as were her parents), and keeps house. Children living at home, all single, include: John H, 20, a mariner; Capt Le [should be Charles L - handwriting unclear], 18, a mariner; James, 16, a mariner; Levi S, 13, works at home; and Ada, 9. The three youngest attend school. All the children were born in Maine; their father was born in Ireland and their mother in Maine.

1900 Census

Mary E Foren, 70, is the head of household in Millbridge, Washington, Maine (District 214). She is a widow, and was born in Maine in May 1830. Her parents were also born in Maine. She owns the home, and it is not mortgaged. She has had 11 children; 7 are still living.

Her son, Levi, and his family, live with her. Levi was born Jan 1868 (age 32), and is a sailor, who spent one month in the past year unemployed. He's been married for 11 years. This census states both his parents were born in Maine. His family includes his wife, Nettie, born Jun (or Jan) 1870 (age 30), who has had 3 children (2 are still living). Nettie was born in Maine, as were her parents. Children: Bertha, 8 (born Dec 1891) and Eva, 5 (born Mar 1894). Bertha is attending school.

1910 Census

Mary Foren, age 78 and widowed, lives with her son Levi S Foren and his family. Her daughter Edith P Mitchell, 36 and divorced, is also a member of the household. See Levi family page for further details.
