    "Leonard Petro lived in the same area following his return from confinement by the British at Fort Detroit. He and Mary See were married around 1787, probably in Hardy County, which had been formed from Hampshire County in 1785. There is no record of this marriage because the marriage records of Hardy County are missing from 1785 to 1795. Leonard was about 37 years old and Mary about 29 when they were married. Following their marriage, Leonard and Mary and probably Leonard's parents lived on Leonard's farm in the vicinity of Fort Upper Tract."
