Keith was born in Mellott, but moved to Crawfordsville with his family in 1918 when he was 10.
Keith and Gertrude married in Oct 1929, the very month the Stock Market crashed and the Great Depression began. Keith and Gertrude lived in Crawfordsville where their children were born. The children were born in Crawfordsville in May, 1930 and October, 1932 during the worst part of the depression. Nancy Reichard was born in a house on Tuttle Street. Keith got a job in Cincinnati Ohio as a salesman, but by March 1933 he lost his job in a force cut and returned to Crawfordsville. He applied to R.R. Donnelly, where he was accepted and began the career he would have for the rest of his life. His brother Kenneth worked with him at Donnelly’s and also spent his career there.
Nancy and Jack Reichard won two Jitterbug dance contests. Once was against a guy who was the warm up act for the Sammy Kaye orchestra. (1947). Nancy went to nursing school for three years at Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. She got an R.N. Gertrude and Keith Reichard got into a severe car accident in Indianapolis in 1939. A drunk driver hit them. Gertrude was in critical condition and taken to Methodist hospital. She received a severe head injury resulting in nerve damage in her left forehead, which caused her to be unable to lift her left eyebrow. Keith was unhurt. Gertrude Reichard had Tuberculosis and went to a Sanitarium in Lafayette in 1945 and again in 1948. Keith Reichard was sent to a Sanitarium in Naperville Illinois for possible Tuberculosis in 1947, but the diagnosis was discounted after three months.
Keith and Gertrude retired to Treasure Island Florida in the 1970s and Keith died there in 1978 at age 70. Gertrude returned to Indiana and she died in Crawfordsville 20 years later at age 88.
