Problem

Originally, the list of children of Joseph Haigh and Dinah Beardsell numbered 17. Gradually it has been discovered that a number of these children had no association with this couple. The names and birthdates given for these children in the original list could not be found via the search engine in Ancestry and nor could respective burials before the first census in 1841 (where they did not appear).

As a result the following children have now been deleted from the list of offspring of Joseph and Dinah Haigh:

A later discovery

There is an 1861 census entry in Ancestry for the following family living in Almondbury, a village not far north of Holme:

    • Household Schedule 79: Up Comagen, Tayor Hill, Almondbury
    • Joseph Haigh, head, mar, 60, wool dyer, born Yorkshire, Honley
    • Sarah Haigh, wife, mar, 52, born Yorkshire, Almondbury
    • William Haigh, son, unm, 25, mechanic, born Yorkshire, Almondbury
    • Ellen Haigh, daur, unm, 22, woollen cloth burler, born Yorkshire, Almondbury
    • Amelia Haigh, daur, unm, 20, woollen cloth burler, born Yorkshire, Almondbury

This family does not apppear in any other census years.

Ellen Haigh and Amelia Haigh have now been deleted from the family of Joseph and Dinah Haigh.
