In a marriage contract dated 13 Jul 1661 prepared for the marriage of youngest daughter Sarah with Joseph Goodhue, John refers to "my wife Susanna" indicating she was still alive as of this date. On p. 54, Jennet is identified as widow of Thomas Dickinson, whose will was dated 8 Mar 1661/62, so marriage occurred after this.

  2. A marriage date abt. 1659 is often given, based on the assumption that John's wife was Sarah. If this is believed, Source:Vital records of Ipswich, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849, p. 2:710, gives Sarah's death date as 14 Jun 1658. However, it does not address the reference to wife Susanna referred to in 1661, so at best, implies a third marriage with this marriage still occurring after 1661.
