User:Quolla6 Note:This family article is for John Snoddy (4) and wife Unknown, who settled in Buckingham/Amherst County, VA, by 1748. John's wife is commonly identified as "Agnes Glasgow", based on a marriage record for 1741 at the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. The marriage records for the First Presbyterian Church are available at Source:Linn and Egle, 1880. A John Snoddy is shown as marrying an "Agnes" on 7 August 1741, but Agnes' last name is not given. No data has come to hand to show that the John Snoddy who settled in Buckingham County circa 1748 came to the area from Philadelphia. Nor has any information come to hand that shows that his wife was in fact named Agnes. In addition, we can presume that the John Snoddy who married Agnes in Philadelphia was Presbyterian, since he married in a Presbyterian Church. Since Virginia at this time recognized only the Episcopalian/Anglican church, it seems unlikely that a Presbyterian would have moved there.

Note: If you feel that the evidence is strong enough to separate the 2 or 3 families in question, then separate Family Pages should be created with explanations and NoMerge templates on each. I have no dog in this hunt. I am simply trying to add source citations to many of these older pages and to clarify some confusing presentations. --Cos1776 18:54, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

NOTE: The family records copied from the Bible of Robert Snoddy. The Bible was printed by Mathew Cary, 118 Market Street, Philadelphia, Penn., Oct., 1802 and bought by Robert Snoddy in 1803. We know by the fact being handed down from son to son, and neighbors that knew him, that he and his brother James were with Washington during the Revolution and were with him at Yorktown at the surrender of Cornwallis. The above mentioned Bible is the property of Carey Snoddy, Owensboro, Ky., great-grandson of Robert Snoddy. Robert Snoddy's will is in file on the Barren County Court House, dated 1820.
