- In 1870, John and two of his eight children, William and Franklin settled in Indian Lake Township, Nobles County, Minnesota. Franklin homesteaded the NW 1/2 of Section 24. In Certificate # 2690, the United States of America for the consideration of $4.00 deeded to Franklin Mosher 160 acres. The little white house at 215 First Avenue, Round Lake, Minnesota, rests on land Franklin Mosher homsteaded in 1873. Most of Round Lake, Minnesota is on what was once Mosher homestead.
- John died July 14, 1882 at the home of his son William in Round Lake township. Sarah died August 27, 1893 at Northwood, Iowa. Both are bured at the Worthington Cemetery, Worthington, Minnesota.
