  1.   In his will John Holmes refers to Elizabeth as the child of his wife Jennet by writing "I allow my wife to discharge her duty to her daughter Elizabeth in giving her part as well as any of the Girls."
  2.   Both the Ancestry.com transacription and the date on the probate file use the date the will was written as the probate date. The will was actually probated at the May Term 1775, so John must have died about then.
