    His (John Lloyd) maternal grandfather was the famous Capt. John Harper (1728-1804) of Revolutionary war fame. Capt. Harper, a Quaker, who was born in Philadelphia in 1728 was married twice. His first wife was Sarah Wells of Pennsylvania by whom he had 20 children.
