JOHN HAGERTY and AGNES PATERSON had at least one daughter, named Margaret. Margaret was born in Ireland in 1847. John and Agnes were likely also from Ireland. John died before Margaret married. Margaret married in Glasgow in 1864 at the age of just 17. Obviously the family moved from Ireland to Glasgow, but it is it not known when. It is not known if John died in Ireland or in Scotland.

Being only 17 when she married, Margaret probably lived with her mother Agnes. Her eventual husband Matthew Black lived just down the street from them. The couple lived at the same address for years after that, raising several of their children there. It is likely that Agnes continued to live with them.
