Family:John Davies and Margaret Fairhurst (1)

John and Margaret had fourteen children, although many did not survive childhood:

1. Sarah Jane Davies born about 1856 in Widnes, date of death unknown.
2. William Davies born about 1858 in Runcorn, married Elizabeth Worrall in 1876 and died in 1885. Age 27
3. Mary Elizabeth Davies born in 1859 in Runcorn and had two children out of wedlock: Alice Maud Davies, born in 1878; and Walter Davies born one month before she married William Cockcroft in 1879. Both children went by the name of Cockcroft. Walter must have died because she later adopted her sister, Amelia's son and called him Walter too.
4. James Davies born in 1861 in Manchester and died 19 March 1863 in Runcorn. Age 1 year, 10 months
5. Agnes Davies born about 1863 in Runcorn and died 15 June 1868. Age 5 years
6. Amelia Davies born 25 June 1865 in Runcorn and never married. Amelia had a son named Alfred Davies at birth, but was adopted by Mary Elizabeth and William Cockcroft and was known as Walter Cockcroft.
7. John Davies born December 1866 in Runcorn and died 17 January, 1867. Age 7 weeks
8. Albert Davies born 1868 in Runcorn and married Catherine Edisbury in 1886, date of death unknown.
9. Agnes Davies born in 1869 in Runcorn, married John White in 1890, and died on May 18, 1957 at age 87.
10. John Davies born 1871 in Runcorn, married Clara Nicholas in 1892, date of death unknown.
11. Edward Davies born 1872 in Runcorn, married Mary Jane Brown in 1898, and died 18 March, 1940 in Southport, Lancashire
12. James Henry Davies born about 1874 in Runcorn, date of death unknown
13. Walter Davies born April 1875, died 29 September, 1876. Age 17 months
14. Walter Davies born December 1877, died 3 August 1878. Age 7 months

Margaret probably died of complications due to the birth of her last child on December 29, 1877.
