- In Vol. 1 of History of the Brigham Family, W.I.T. Brigham notes that "Curiously, both Morse and Hudson, in their respective histories, say that Samuel, son of Dr. John Brigham, also married Abigail Moore on the foregoing date, besides giving the marriage as her entered." He then proceeds to list Samuel as a son of both John and Samuel, the first marrying "Abigail Monroe (or Moore)", the second marrying "Abigail Moore". In Vol. 2, Emma Brigham states, "There is no evidence that John Brigham had a son Samuel". Certainly no son named Samuel is mentioned in the will, and the similarities of the wives' names strongly suggests that one Samuel is being mistakenly placed into two families.
