  2.   The use of Mrs. in the marriage record at this time may actually mean Mistress, i.e., an unmarried woman. Source:Shurtleff, Benjamin. Descendants of William Shurtleff of Plymouth and Marshfield, Massachusetts, p. 145, identifies her as Experience (Kirk) Pierce, but no support for this can be found. The Mayflower Descendant article cited on John's page (p. 44:141) says, "Elijah Francis Atwood [editor of Ye Atte Wode Annals] thought Experience might be a descendant of Richard and Martha Pearce", but this statement is pretty vague, and no such person, or even candidate, seems apparent in Source:Pierce, Frederick Clifton.
