I have a John ALLISON, b. Sep. 5, 1765 in Rockbridge County, VA. He served in the Revolutionary War, then moved to Bourbon County, KY (part of which, including where he lived, later became Nicholas County).

He married ANNA GRAY in 1785. Migrated to Marion County, IN in 1819, where he died in September 1837.

Does this John Allison connect in some way to the Allisons you're researching?

Children of JOHN ALLISON and LUCY RUTLEDGE are:

  • i. JOHN5 ALLISON, b. WFT Est. 1771-1785.

Notes for JOHN ALLISON: Possible clue to migration of this John Allison?

I have just begun to trace my Allison line and am trying to determine the parents of a Sarah Allison born 1847 NC marrying in Jackson County, NC shortley after 1870. She named a son Lee Elbridge thus leading me to look into the above name.

Elbridge Augusta Allison is in 1850 and 1860 Orange County, NC and then disappears. He is one house away from a John Allison Sr. born 1775 NC leading me to believe this is his father. I noticed from reading many entries under the surname genforum that Augusta must have come from Augusta County, Virginia.

Any help you can give me on this line would be greatly appreciated..Robie
