As their son was born in Norway around 1835 or earlier it mean that we can make a fairly accurate assumption of Andrew's grandfathers names, as unless they were royalty, prior to 1870 and until 1923 for nearly all Norwegians, surnames were patronymes, that is a construction of your father's given name with the ending -sen or -datter.

Therefore we can assume that;

• Johan Johnsen was the son of John or possibly the more Norwegian Johan

• Berith Andersdr was the daughter of Anders
