1784 Census of the Louisiana German Coast

The family of Jean-Baptiste Rodrigue and wife Marie Joseph "Dervin" is listed in the General Census of 1784 of the Second Coast of the Germans (present-day St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes).[5]

Last Will and Testament of Jean Baptiste Rodrigue and his wife Marie Josephe Dorvin

No. 8; 8-18-83 (p. 72). Witnessed by Antoine Delatte, Dominique Guiddy, Louis Pain and Daniel Pain.[1] [2]

Inventory of the community property of Jean-Baptiste Rodrigue and his late wife, Marie Josephe Dorvin (1785)

No. 22. 8-16-85 (p. 88). Inventory taken on the Rodrigue farm by Pierre Becnelle and Jean-Pierre Bossie in the presence of Jean-Baptiste Rodrigue; Ambroise Borne, his son-in-law; and Jacques Troxler, his brother-in-law. Debts owed by the community to: Cantrelle, Fevre, Antoine Baudouin. One item on the inventory reads "for the expenditure of his wife, Marguerite Delatte, a sum of 62 piastres. Signing the document were Pierre Bossie, Jean-Pierre Bossie and Jean-Pierre Keller. Partition, October 9, 1785. Each of the 11 children of Jean-Baptiste Rodrigue and Marie Josephe Dorvin is to receive 596 piastres from their mother's succession.[1] [2]

NOTE: There were twelve known children, however, only 11 are referenced in this record. Did one child die before 1785?
