The family above was originally listed with 10 children, but only Lucy, John and the younger Mary were with their parents in the 1841 and 1851 censuses. The surname Schofield (often spelled Scholfield) was very prevalent in Saddleworth and the neighbouring town of Rochdale (which is in Lancashire). It is possible that another researcher combined two families together. Further discussion will be found under "Talk".

The following children have been deleted from this family group:
Joseph Schofield
Mary Schofield
Thomas Schofield
Benjamin Schofield
Martha Schofield
William Schofield
Ellen Schofield

Their parents, another James and Martha Schofield, have now been added to WeRelate.
