Marriage Bond:
State of North Carolina Mecklenburg County KNOW all men by the presents, that we James McClure & Andrew Olipher in the state aforesaid, are held and firmly bound unto Doc Nathaniel Alexander Esquire, Chairman of the court of the county aforesaid, in the just and full sum of five hundred pounds, current money of this state, to be paid to the said chairman or his successors or assignees: to the which payment will and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrator. Sealed with our seals and dated this 4th day of April anno Dom 1808. The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden James McClure hath made application for a License for a marriage to be celebrated between him and Mary Sharp of the county aforesaid: New in case it shall not appear, hereafter, that there is any lawful case to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
