James' children are not proven. There was no Will or estate records as far as can be found. The land tax lists show James had 400 acres when he died. The 1797 tax list showed him with no land left as it had been distributed. 200 acres went to his father John Dugger Sr; 50 acres went to Sampson Dugger; and 150 acres to Wright Griffin. This division may be among heirs, or it may be to settle debts. It is hard to say.

In any event it suggests that Sampson Dugger was a son of James and Sarah. I don't know Wright Griffin's connection, perhaps he is a son-in-law. There is a 1796 marriage record for Wright Griffin and Elizabeth H. Suter in neighboring Southampton Co., VA. Might not be same person. Perhaps his first wife was a daughter of James and Sarah Dugger. Just speculation at this point.
