[What does "beside Hannah" mean? We know her birth was not recorded.]

The first child of theirs recorded in the SUDBURY records (NEHGS, Volume 17, p. 172) was Jonathan, b. 3 July 1654. Therefore they likely lived elsewhere prior to that time.

1643: MOORE, Elizabeth and Henry Rice, Jan. 1, 1643. Marriage, Sudbury

  3. Source:Vital records of Sudbury, Massachusetts, to the year 1850, p. 258, gives marriage: "Rice, Henry and Elizabeth Moore, Jan. 1, 1643." The introduction on p. 4 says double dating is only used when written that way in the original records. This means the date given here represents the way the date was written in the records. Thus, the date represents 1 Jan 1643/44.
  4. According to the Edmund Rice Association website, the marriage was in "February per Ward", presumably the other parts of the date agreeing. This appears to refer to one of their sources, Genealogical History of the Rice Family by Andrew H. Ward.
