Questionable information identified by WeRelate automation
May 2003:
While Henry Betz and Katherina Dern were quite prolific, it looks like only TWO of their lines exist as a possibility for finding living relatives. I have pretty much confirmed that the following lines of Henry and Katherina died out:
1. Maria (born before their 1848 marriage) died in 1849 as a child.
2. Henry (1849-1911) died single; buried at Concordia.
5. Johanna/Anna (1854-bef. 1890) married her sister's widow, but apparently died shortly after; no evidence of children.
6. Ferdinand (1857-possibly 1923). Appears to have died single. Can't find him in 1920 census; there is a 3/27/1923 Probate Case # (69206) for someone with that name. Last record we have of him is 1900 census (living with his brother Henry at 824 Genesee).
7. Elizabeth Betz (1858-1885) married in 1882 a David Gross. But shed died a few years later. Her sister Johanna married the widow (See #5 above)
8. Caroline (b. Jan 1860; d. Oct 1860) did not live a year
9. Carl (1861-1862) also did not live a year.
10. Carl Betz (1864-1896) appears to have died single at the age of 33. He's buried at Concordia.
11. Jacob Wendell (1866-1867) survived just over a year.
The two branches that have produced lines to the present both had Weber stock added to the mix:
4. George (1852-1893). Buried at Concordia. Married Margaret Weber and had three children, one of whom (William) has descendants alive in 2005.
6. Catherine Betz (1850-bef. 1930) Married Heinrich Weber. At least two of their children have descendants to the present.
