Mr. and Mrs. G. Clinton Trammell Jr, Pembroke Place, were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. Clinton Trammell III, 10 Dell Place.
The event was hosted by the Trammells’ children, Mr. and Mrs. G. Clinton Trammell III, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Mathis, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griffin Sr, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shaw.
For the occasion, Mrs. Trammell was attired in a mint green Qiana dress which featured long sleeves and a princess neckline. She wore a string of pearls which had been given to her by her husband on a previous anniversary. Her grandchildren gave her a corsage of yellow silk rosebuds and stephanotis. Mr. Trammell received a yellow silk rosebud and stephanotis boutonniere.
Mrs. M. M. Mathis registered guests at a table covered with a white cloth overlaid with yellow lace. A brass candlestick holding a yellow candle and 50th wedding anniversary emblem under a crystal hurricane globe decorated the table.
The reception rooms were decorated with arrangements of red roses, baby’s breath and fresh flowers. The triple-tiered and columned anniversary cake was trimmed with an anniversary symbol, baby’s breath and fresh yellow and white mums. The cake was served by the Trammells’ granddaughter, Casey Griffin.
The refreshment table was covered with a floor-length yellow linen cloth and centered with an arrangement of fresh yellow roses, baby’s breath and leather leaf fern. The arrangement was flanked with brass candlesticks holding yellow candles and crystal bangles under crystal hurricane globes.
Golden punch was served by the Trammells’ granddaughter, Jennie Mathis, at a lace-covered table. The punch bowl was surrounded by fresh yellow mums and daisies. Silver and crystal appointments held petite ham and cucumber sandwiches, crackers and cheese spread, nuts, golden bell-shaped butter mints and a fruit tree of fresh pineapple and melon balls. A silver chafing dish contained miniature chicken turnovers.
Assisting with serving were Mrs. G. Clinton Trammell III and Mrs. Charles Griffin Sr.
Gifts attended by Mrs. Gene Shaw were displayed on a dining table. A memorabilia table held a scrapbook of mementos and photographs taken throughout the couple’s marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Trammell were married on July 23, 1934, in Dalton. Judge J. C. Brooker performed the ceremony. Mrs. Trammell is the former Mary Elizabeth Ross. Her parents are the late Charley B. and Gertrude Ross. Mr. Trammell is the son of Floy Nabers Trammell and the late G. Clinton Trammell Sr.
